The programme “Lubrication Programme Development” –hereinafter LPD– aims to maximize the benefits of the properties of lubricants by introducing good practices and excellence in lubrication.
The LPD system views the lubrication process as a sequence of stages in which people, procedures and ancillary lubrication resources intervene in a coordinated way with sights set on achieving the main aim: to contribute added value to maintenance and maximise the returns on investment in assets.
The aims of the programme are achieved through work and improvements in the following areas:
Training of the personnel involved in the lubrication chain
Improvement in the tasks linked to storage, handling and contamination control
Design of lubrication procedures and the correct taking of samples
Lubricant analysis, control, monitoring and corrective action
Lubrication management, control and indicators
The programme drives forward improvement in all the tasks relating to lubrication and lubricants and gradually generates working standards that move the transforming of lubrication towards a process of excellence.
The programme is divided into three phases:
The first phase assesses the state of lubrication and the economic impact of lubrication on the industrial plant.
The second phase is geared towards the design of lubrication engineering in all the areas in which there is a need and opportunity to improve. Here the necessary resources to achieve good practices and excellence in lubrication are detailed.
And finally, the third phase covers the implementation of all the recommendations of the previous phase, the integration of all the information generated through the management system of the industrial plant in question, and the training of operations and maintenance personnel.
