Coolant analysis

Approximately 50% of all engine failures are related to problems in the cooling circuit.

Bureau Veritas laboratories have realised that today’s demands on modern engine design also affect the design of cooling circuits to efficiently absorb heat generated by engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems. As cooling systems have become smaller, the media used must withstand higher temperatures, pressures and flow rates to dissipate thermal efficiency and adequately protect the systems.

Problems in the cooling circuit can, in principle, reduce the service life of all components of a machine. Therefore, our coolant analysis programme focuses on the importance of a comprehensive engine condition programme for optimum machine performance and long service life.

Bureau Veritas’ analysis programme monitors changes in conventional coolants over the long term by studying the chemical reactions that occur long before failures.

Coolant analysis programmes

Optimal equipment performance begins with constant testing and analysis of machine fluids.

Our routine testing capabilities are adapted to the requirements of most customers and equipment manufacturers and have proven their worth in practice.

Additional parameters can be added on request. We also test coolants without antifreeze additives or other water samples. Please contact our technical service for the right choice.

Coolant analysis methods: Radiator Antifreeze

Optimal equipment performance begins with constant testing and analysis of machine fluids.

Coolant tests – with or without antifreeze – provide a quick check of serviceability and indicate problems at an early stage.

The following tests and methods are available for testing coolants (radiator antifreeze):
